Dating - They Dying Trend

Our world is losing it's social skills, and one of those areas where we are seriously failing is dating. There is a cycle that one is meant to go through and that is: Dating, Courtship, Engagement, then Marriage. However, we have run into a major problem in society. Dating is a dying trend.      A big part of this is due to technology. We spend more time looking at screens then carrying on actual conversations face to face. We also fear rejection, to the point where we avoid it at all cost. There is also the rising trend of 'hanging out'. There's nothing wrong with hanging out with friends, but people use it to replace dating and assume if they 'hang-out' together in a group it counts as dating, this is false!!     There are 3 P's of dating - Planned, Paid for, and Paired off. Dating is meant to be enjoyable and fun, while also giving people the chance to really focus on one person and get to know them better. Dating helps us build our social sk...

Homosexuality - Fact or fiction?

Image
We live in a confusing world, where anyone can claim to be anything they want. Where marriage and relations no longer follow tradition. What has now taken the place of marriage between a man and a woman? Marriage to the same sex.      Many claims have been made over the past few years that people are born homosexual. This is a myth. Homosexuality is a real thing, and has effected many. But the statement that one is born homosexual is a false claim.       After doing study this week I found many interesting articles and a fascinating video, with homosexuals explaining their personal experience. The way to becoming truly homosexual is confusion in the mind, due to difficult or traumatic experiences.      Just as teen girls without a father figure tend to have sex before marriage because they are looking for something to fill that need for the missing male figure in their life, males tend to be homosexualy  attracte...

Defend the traditions

Traditions are, "inherited patterns of belief or behavior". All families have traditions, even some they don't think about such as their family culture. We learn these traditions from watching those around around us, which usually entails our family members.      One example would be the way we look at social class. There are usually three levels of social class that we recognize, upper class, middle class, and lower class. Often times we determine these class's by wealth, but there are also many other contributing factors such as, location, occupation, connections, appearance, race, education, and more.       If someone were to come from an upper class family they may have the belief that they are better than others and that they can have whatever they want.      Here's the question we need to ask ourselves; what traditions are we teaching our children? After watching many videos and reading multiple articles this we...

Rules vs. Roles as a Family

Image
We all have different types of families, and a specific role that we play in our family. For my family, my father was always the provider, and my mother was always the nurturer. And me and my siblings all played our rule. My older brother, the oldest sibling, was great at 'teasing' his sisters mercilessly and making comments to remind us how much boys would 'disappoint' us in the future. My sister, the middle child, was great at having a 'grumpy' teenage disposition, but always got her work done and had perfect grades. And I was great at being the overly emotional and 'spoiled', youngest child.      However, besides these typical stereotypes we also had our roles of the peace maker, the happy child, the wisest, and so on and so forth. But the truth is, we all play a specific role in our family and may not even realize it. Sometimes these roles can become a force of habit, so that even as adults, when we come back to visit our families we revert bac...

Demographic Winter: The Population Decline

Image
We live in a changing world, where the 'ideal' family is changing, and peoples views on the importance of family are declining. This could be viewed as a minor problem, or even dismissed as unimportant, but the facts state otherwise. Our world is just a few years away from a steady decline and downfall.     Families are a major support system to our world in several different areas. It all began in the 1900's with the Baby Boom, people were having children left and right, or so it seemed. This led people to the fear of over-population and was shortly accompanied by a small book published, "The Population Bomb". Essentially the book talked about how, 'babies are destroying our planet'. People then began to fear having children, leading to a decline in sub-fertility rate, causing declining populations.      But the fact is, population growth is not evil, in fact it is necessary for our own benefit worldwide. There are many struggles and problems th...
